Ita Mehrotra is the author of the highly acclaimed Shaheen Bagh: A Graphic Recollection (Yoda Press, 2021), which was a runner up for Illustrated Book of the Year at the Publishing Next Industry Awards, 2021, and has been nominated for the Laadli Media Awards, 2022. Ita’s non-fiction comics and illustrated stories have been published and exhibited widely over the past decade with The Wire, Goethe Institute, Fumetto Festival Lucerne, Zubaan Books, Yoda Press, Ad Astra Comix (Canada), popula.com, and KHOJ Artists Association, among others.

She is a recipient of the Arts for Good Fellowship (Singapore International Foundation), Fumetto Apprenticeship Grant (Swiss Arts Council), Gender-Bender Arts Grant (Sandbox Collective & Goethe Institute), Young Connectors of the Future Fellowship (Swedish Institute), Negotiating Routes Art & Ecology Grant (KHOJ Artists Association), Sciences Po Exchange Programme (Sciences Po Paris & Delhi University), among others.

Ita is currently Director of Artreach India, and was visiting Faculty at Ashoka University over 2021. Her MPhil thesis in 2017 at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU, explored feminist graphic narratives in contemporary India.

She is presently working on a new graphic narrative that deep dives into particular forest rights movements in India. This book is represented by A Suitable Agency.
