A novelist at heart, M.R. Dattathri is a seasoned IT professional who has worked for many multinational companies in India and the U.S., in various technology and management positions. He writes in Kannada and English, and his five published novels in Kannada have all garnered critical acclaim, winning him a loyal reader base.
Dattathri has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Book Brahma Best Novel of the Year (2023), the Vardhamana Prashasti (2023), the Māsti Praśasti (2019), the Dr. Narahalli Award (2017), and the Karnataka Sangha Award (2006). Two of his novels have been translated into Telugu and have been well-received there. Dattathri is also a poet and a noted Kannada columnist. The English translation of his Kannada novel Ondondu Talegu Ondondu Bele, translated by the author himself (tentatively titled The Second Innings) and represented by A Suitable Agency, will be published in 2025 by Penguin Random House India.
