Malini Banerjee is a media professional turned independent singer-songwriter. Born in Dehradun and brought up across the country, she now splits her time between Delhi, where she usually writes, and Calcutta, where she mostly sings.

She has formerly held positions at DNA, NDTV 24×7, Walt Disney Studios and, Atletico de Kolkata (now Mohun Bagan SG), to name a few, in various roles—sports journalist, sportscaster, publicist, producer—before embarking upon a career in music.

Having trained for over a decade in Hindustani Classical Music and with a knack for the arts since childhood, pursuing music came naturally to her. Malini leads a jazz-fusion ensemble, Mixed Signals, while simultaneously publishing original music that cuts across genres and languages. From thumris to classic rock, her compositions are as varied as her career.

Malini is currently working on her first EP of original music in Hindi. Drawing from her many experiences and interests, she has just finished writing her first novel. When she isn’t writing or singing, she can be found walking around with raccoon eyes having stayed up all night binge-watching K-dramas.

Her debut novel, Annyeong! Namaste!, is an exuberant, entertaining feel-good romance about a young Indian woman in Seoul. It is represented by A Suitable Agency, and will be published in 2025 by Penguin Random House India.
