Namita Gokhale is a prolific writer and festival director. She is the author of twenty-five books of fiction and non-fiction. Her recent novels include Never Never Land, The Blind Matriarch and Jaipur Journals and a forthcoming collection of short stories titled Life on Mars. Her recent works of non-fiction include Mystics and Sceptics: In Search of Himalayan Masters and the anthology Treasures of Lakshmi. Gokhale’s work spans various genres, including novels, short stories, Himalayan studies, mythology, several anthologies, books for young readers and a play.

Gokhale is the co-founder and co-director of the famed Jaipur Literature Festival. She has been recognized both for her writing and her commitment to multilingual Indian literature and cross-cultural literary dialogue. She received the First Centenary National Award for Literature in 2017 and the prestigious Sahitya Akademi (National Academy of Literature) Award 2021 for her novel Things to Leave Behind. She has also been honoured with the Nilimarani Sahitya Samman 2023.
