Pankaja Srinivasan has been a journalist since 1985. She has worked at the Indian Express, The Hindu, India Today, Newstime, Eve’s Weekly, and the rural media platform, Gaon Connection. She has also contributed articles to the Deccan Chronicle.

For Pankaja , food has been a source of enduring interest and she has written extensively about chefs, regional food traditions, and eating experiences off the beaten track. Great Tastes: A Life’s Journey through Food, Flavours and Family follows the memories of meals her mother, her aunts, neighbours and friends concocted and which she adapted and reinvented as she grew up. Her husband’s Air Force career took her to stations across India and local tastes seeped into the food she cooked for her family and friends. This rich mix of people, places, flavours and recipes gives this book its delightful feel of simple daily pleasures, of delicate and diverse aromas, of the memories of family meals, picnics and packed lunches and all the quotidian joys of home cooking.
